An author returns to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot to find inspiration for his next book, only to discover that the townspeople are being attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire. Writer Gary Dauberman told Den of Geek in June 2019 that his goal with the new version of Salem’s Lot is to make vampires scary again. It wants to rid itself of the sexier, more romantic undead that have infested pop culture for the better part of the last quarter century, thanks to everything from Interview with the Vampire to Twilight to The Vampire Diaries. The movie takes place in the late 1970s, like the book. Mark’s night light is a Batman night light that uses the 1989 Batman logo. Correction: the story takes place in 1975. The style of Mark’s Batman lightsaber is similar to the 1989 style, but the 1974 Batman games show that the same style was used in 1975. References Trog (1970). Stickers of strange things that happen in the city. The ultimate gathering of a band of heroes fit for the occasion, coming together in perfect King fashion. It’s all gone. The schedule is largely incoherent. The characters jump to conclusions (always the right ones) without thinking. It’s hard to like any of the characters because they all lack the depth needed to move the story forward. There are some truly wonderful moments and little sparks of genius here. But unfortunately, this adaptation went awry. The "What We Do in the Shadows" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month. See our October calendar for more details!
